Slovenian Tourist Falls Victim to Theft at Bali Eatery

A Slovenian tourist, Kamin Nitalija (36), became a victim of theft while dining with her partner at a local eatery on Jalan Mertasari, Sidakarya Village, South Denpasar, on Saturday afternoon (May 3, 2025).

While enjoying their meal, Kamin’s sling bag—which contained a Samsung phone, IDR 900,000 in cash, and a credit card—was stolen without her noticing.

Fortunately, shortly after reporting the incident to the South Denpasar Police (Polsek Densel), the bag was recovered. However, IDR 600,000 in cash was missing, and the perpetrator remains unidentified.

“The sling bag containing the victim’s belongings has been found. Only IDR 600,000 was missing,” confirmed South Denpasar Police Chief AKP Agus Adi Pariyoga on Sunday (May 4, 2025), as reported by detikBali.

South Denpasar Criminal Investigation Unit Head Iptu Nur Habib Aulya stated that, according to the victim and witnesses, a man was seen pacing near the scene. Kamin did not find this suspicious at the time.

“After finishing her meal and preparing to pay, the victim realized her bag was gone,” Nur explained.

Kamin attempted to search for the man she had seen earlier, but he had already disappeared. She then filed a report with the police, who launched an immediate search. The bag was later found on Jalan Taman Pancing in Pemogan, South Denpasar.

“Only the victim’s cash—IDR 600,000—was missing,” Nur added.

The police are continuing their investigation to identify the suspect. The case serves as a reminder for tourists and locals alike to remain vigilant in public spaces.
