Russian Tourist Kills Jembrana Resident in Bali Crash

DENPASAR – A Russian national, identified as AS (47), allegedly crashed into a Jembrana resident, IPPPKP (24), killing him instantly while riding on Sunset Road, Kuta, Badung, in the early hours of Thursday, March 20, 2025.

Denpasar Police Traffic Unit Chief, AKP Yusuf Dwi Admodjo, confirmed the fatal accident, stating that the victim, a resident of Pekutatan, Jembrana, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Yusuf, the accident occurred when the victim was riding a custom Chopper motorcycle without license plates, heading west at around 2:30 a.m. Behind him, a BMW with license plate B 1 ULE, driven by AS, was moving in the same direction.

“They were traveling in parallel from the east,” Yusuf said.

Upon reaching the Marmer Indah area, the BMW driver allegedly failed to exercise caution and rear-ended the victim’s motorcycle.

The impact was severe, causing the victim to sustain fatal injuries, including bleeding from his right ear, and he died instantly at the scene.

Denpasar Traffic Police responded to the incident and conducted an investigation at the crash site.

In a video circulating online, officers can be seen interrogating AS, with some reports suggesting a strong smell of alcohol from the vehicle.

When asked about this, Yusuf stated that further investigation was needed to determine whether AS was under the influence at the time of the accident.

“Officers found bottles of alcoholic beverages inside the Russian tourist’s car,” he confirmed.

The legal process is ongoing at Denpasar Police as authorities continue their investigation into the fatal crash.
