IKN infrastructure development phase one progresses to 93 percent

North Penajam Paser, East Kali (ANTARA) – The construction progress of the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara in East Kalimantan for phase one has reached 93 percent.

“The construction progress has reached 93 percent,” Head of IKN Nusantara Infrastructure Development Task Force Danis Hidayat Sumadilaga informed on Sunday.

He then outlined the infrastructure built in phase one, which consisted of government buildings, ministerial landed houses, and flats for civil servants (ASN).

Currently, 20 ministerial landed houses have been completed, while the other 14 units are under construction. In October, 28 ministerial landed houses are targeted for completion, Sumadilaga continued.

In October, the inauguration of several completed buildings in the core area of the government center (KIPP) of IKN Nusantara has also been scheduled, he added.

“We hope that the inauguration for several buildings at IKN’s KIPP can be realized,” he remarked.

The soon-to-be-completed buildings included the Coordinating Ministry Office Buildings one, two, and four, he disclosed.

Followed by the inauguration of Garuda Palace and the State Palace, which are icons of the new capital city, prioritized to take place in October 2024 before the reign of President Joko Widodo ended, Sumadilaga said.

Earlier, the State Palace was used to commemorate the 79th Indonesian Independence Day on August 17, 2024, and a coordination meeting for all regional apparatuses and the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI)/National Police (Polri).

The Garuda Palace has also been used by President Widodo to host the last plenary cabinet meetings and sessions in August and September 2024, Sumadilaga disclosed.

On a separate occasion, Minister of National Development Planning (PPN) Suharso Monoarfa informed the second phase of development at IKN would support the implementation of government.

The second phase of development will include shops, malls, hospitals, schools, and other public facilities, he stated.

Followed by the construction of worship facilities such as mosques, churches, temples, and others, Monoarfa added.
