JAKARTA, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) — France secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Burkina Faso in Group E of the U-17 FIFA World Cup here on Sunday.
The match, held at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), saw the French men’s team score all the goals in the second half by Mathis Lambourde, Joan Lenny Yannis Tincres, and Tidiam Gomis.
In another Group E match, the United States delivered a surprise 3-1 win against South Korea on Sunday evening. Nimfasha Berchimas, a winger, netted two goals, and midfielder Cruz Medina added another.
The United States will compete against Burkina Faso in their second group match on Wednesday. France, presently leading the group, will face South Korea on the same day.
The group stage of the tournament will continue through Saturday.
